Director of Development and Public Relations
Coleman received her BA from the UNC-CH School of Journalism in 2004, where she served as President of the Wesley Foundation. During the summer of 2001, she worked with the Appalachia Service Project in Raleigh County, W.V., and in the summer of 2002, worked in Cocke County, Tenn., organizing volunteers, managing finances and coordinating construction projects. After college, she worked as Development Director of the Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Pittsboro, N.C., before joining LSSP in April 2006.
Coleman’s summer staff experience with the Appalachia Service Project directed her to a long-term career in public service, while her journalism education and strong service learning component at UNC allowed her to connect with the administrative side of nonprofits in fundraising and communications. She is currently a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a member and volunteer with the Junior Charity League of Concord. In her role at LSSP, she enjoys seeing the way the stories of LSSP’s work and clients can help others understand why its work is important and then become passionate about LSSP themselves. Outside of the office, Coleman enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, traveling to visit friends and deciding which room to repaint next in her home.
